Hey everyone!
I hope you're all doing well! I've been hard at work on Hunter's Hand, over the past few weeks and I wanted to share some exciting updates. It's taken longer than expected to get out as there have been quite a few large-scale changes. Here’s a quick summary of what’s new:
- Brand new high-defition player character renders!: Each of the base-cards and draftable cards now have new spritesheets, animations and VFX! I think they're much better, but let me know your thoughts! - If I've missed any, please let me know, you'll see a tiny little man instead as the new ones are 3x the size of the old ones :')
- Heal Effect Update: Healing now uses modifier values, meaning cards can change how much you heal based on player and enemy modifiers.
- Enemy Power Tooltips: I’ve added tooltips for enemy powers to help clarify their effects. No more guessing what those twisted foes can do!
- Bug Fix: I fixed an issue where Black deck cards weren’t being added to the player’s deck due to premature removal. They’ll now be properly included after rewards.
- Card Tooltip Improvements: Tooltips now display only the relevant rules text, eliminating redundant base card info for a cleaner experience. Hopefully the new tooltip and card positions improve readability.
- Tooltip Bug Fix: The tooltip bug has been resolved, so they’ll now display correctly on played cards and next to cards in hand.
- Color-Coded Labels & Tooltips: Cards now have color-coded labels and tooltips for easier parsing. Tooltips will explain statuses and keywords, making gameplay smoother.
- Lightning VFX for OathWrought: I’ve added lightning visual effects for OathWrought, along with new particle effects for card abilities. The base card animations have also been re-added with v3 animations!
- Realistic VFX Sprites: I’ve replaced item textures with realistic VFX sprites and started on v3 player animations in Godot. This is a lengthy task, but I’m excited about the improvements!
- Currency update & Relic rarity: Updated currency values from 1 - around 100x the values. Added granularity will help with balancing and allows for updating values using tweens on battle rewards and shop items. Updated all coin rewards from battles to be 75% - 125% original values, randomly rolled on battle victory to add extra variance. Added rarity to all Relics - Card & Rarity values multiple cost inside the shop, with legendary cards costing 4x as much as common cards.
- Lots of changes to the Map: A huge re-factor of code behind the scenes, mostly tidying up and adding support code for adding new locataions in future. Changes you'll notice on the front end, the map is now large, with 20 locations instead of 10.
- Fixed tooltip text for all Released cards, all cards should not be formatted correctly with colour coding, spacing etc.
- Fixed and issue with Tenuous' cards not applying their effects & not being added to the tenuous pile after being played.
One of the main pushes over this next patch will be balancing everything and making it more fun! Please let me know if you have any feedback at all.
