0.5.1 . New Changes and Features!
Hey everyone!
As mentioned last time, the main focus for this month will be around balancing and making the game more enjoyable overall. I'll also be laying the groundwork for more variations in runs moving forward when I get the rogue-lite elements set up!
- Scene Transition Effects: I’ve added a fade transition effect to scene changes, which should enhance the overall atmosphere of the game.
- Card Bug Fixes & New Draftable Piles: A pesky card bug has been fixed, and I’ve added new draftable card piles for you to experiment with during your runs which will be available at a later date.
- Various Fixes: I tackled several issues, including gambler currency, runic status, and other various bugs to ensure a smoother gameplay experience.
- Balancing Adjustments: I made some balancing adjustments: the Gambler event gold has been fixed, black deck rewards are now correct, enemies will now play 2 cards per turn instead of 1, and I’ve adjusted power-ups. The black goat remains unchanged at 1 action per turn, while players now draw 5 cards per turn with 3 energy. I also reduced enemy level-ups to 1 for better pacing.
- Enhanced Visual Engagement: To improve visual engagement, I’ve increased enemy and player scale to make them larger & closer to the screen, adjusted positions, card placements, movement, and camera zoom. Letterboxing has been re-added, and card scale/fade issues have been corrected.
- New Animations: I’m excited to announce that I’ve added blood and holy spritesheets for oathwrought animations, along with more base card animations to bring the game to life! I'm still working through each of these, but they'll hopefully be added over the next few weeks. I really underestimated how long having unique visuals for every card would be!
- Map Display Fix in battle scene & squashed some minor bugs.
